As expected, strong southerly winds shifted to a westerly wind, causing clearing and a high of 85F so far and leveling off. Cold front is approaching (it is 32F in far northern Texas panhandle!) and will drop temperatures rapidly this evening along with bringing a burst of strong northerly winds, when the maximum wind is likely to occur. The cold air mass is looking colder than modeled, also not surprising with these sharp low-level cold air masses. A few showers are possible/likely around 06z before drying out later in the night. The low-level air mass is dry enough that the low clouds will be gone by sunrise, but with mid-upper level clouds persisting through the day, leading to a gradual warmup as the northeasterly winds weaken.
