Day 7 of Augusta, ME (KAUG)

It did clear out late last night and with light winds, clear skies, and fresh snow cover, it dropped to 15F. However, more sunshine than expected led to a high of 39-40F even with snow cover and not much downsloping. Mid-high level clouds are in now, and low-level clouds will arrive by 06z, greatly limiting radiational cooling tonight, especially with weak warm advection as winds turn to a light southeasterly wind. Some wet snow is expected tonight into tomorrow with a bit of cold air damming due to the weak southeasterly winds. Later tomorrow, winds will turn to the north-northwest, and it will dry out with downsloping taking over. The wind will also strengthen tomorrow evening into tomorrow night, limiting radiational cooling, although some clearing and cold advection will lead to a modest cooldown, leading to a possible low at the end (Friday 06z), although near the beginning (Thursday 06z) might also be a bit cooler.
