Slowly dropped to 47F last
night with persistent low-level northeasterly wind and clouds. Not
surprisingly, temperatures rose slowly today as low-level cold air and clouds hung
on longer than most models, with a high of only 62-63F so far as the low clouds
finally break but with mid-high level clouds and northeasterly wind still
limiting warming. A cold front will bring stronger northeasterlies again later tonight,
reinforcing the cool air mass and low-level clouds. Once again, the low clouds
will be tough to break tomorrow, and combined with stiff northeasterly winds,
it will struggle to warm up with temperatures being below most model guidance
again (except HRRR perhaps?). There may be a bit of sun towards the end of the
day. Winds will gradually shift to easterly or southeasterly tomorrow night,
but they won’t be strong and any warming will be minimal with the lack of
daytime heating.
