More persistent low-level
clouds than expected prevented it from dropping below 32F last night. Cloudy
all day today, with scattered showers and 0.02” so far. Some more showers are
expected this evening before drying out and partially clearing out later tonight,
allowing for some radiational cooling. Tomorrow looks somewhat sunnier than
today, allowing for more daytime heating but mitigated by a slightly colder air
mass, which will induce instability. The instability combined with a subtle
disturbance arriving will lead to some scattered showers in the afternoon and
evening. Winds will be calm initially but switch to northwesterly tomorrow evening,
which tends to be a little stronger than other wind directions at Mt. Shasta. Showers
will dissipate tomorrow night with the loss of daytime heating induced
instability, with clearing and drier low-level air leading to decent
radiational cooling conditions, perhaps tempered a bit by the wind.
