Clouds had a greater effect
than expected in preventing cooling last night, with a low of 32F. Wet snow, moderate
at times, began last night but is ending, limiting the high to 34F. With the
temperature just above freezing, it has been able to record precipitation, 0.36”
total. Last day of Augusta should be dry, with the next storm not arriving
until after Saturday 06z. Moderate northwesterly winds tonight will gradually
lighten tomorrow as high pressure briefly settles in. The northwesterly winds
will advect moderately colder air, leading to a colder night tonight, but plenty
of March sunshine and a bit of downsloping will boost temperatures during the
day tomorrow, even if a bit mitigated by fresh snow cover. A light easterly
wind will develop tomorrow evening with thickening clouds ahead of the next
storm as the high pressure moves to the east, but likely will not affect the high
temperature, low temperature, or maximum wind.
