Day 7 of Rapid City, SD (KRAP)

As expected, strong winds prevented good radiational cooling last night. High likely will be 65F today. Max wind is at least 33 kt, with winds starting to weaken now and will weaken rapidly early tonight, allowing for good radiational cooling initially. Lingering 5 kt of downsloping wind could slow down the cool down a bit, but it won’t be enough to prevent it from crashing below model guidance again. However, winds could get a bit stronger later in the night, leading to little or no cool down after 06z. It will be sunny again tomorrow, and with weak warm advection, it will be a lot warmer than today, likely a similar amount above models as recent days. There will still be breezy northwesterly winds, but they will be weaker than today (not that it could get much stronger anyway!)
