Cloudless
sky as expected today. Winds did calm down last night and it dropped to 64F, not
as cool as other areas due to the urban heat island. With full sunshine and a
near record warm air mass, it rose to 87F, with max wind of 13 kt so far,
coming out of the south and with no lake breeze. Some mid to high level clouds
and lingering wind will lead to an even warmer night tonight but somewhat
cooler daytime high tomorrow. It will probably still be a couple of degrees
warmer than most models, but it depends on when the thicker mid-level clouds arrive
in the afternoon to stop the warmup. Tomorrow, winds will be stronger than today.
Showers ahead of a cold front could start to come in just before 06z, leading
to very small amounts of rain, and possibly cool it down enough to cause the
low to be at the end (Thursday 06z) instead of tonight, though it is unlikely
to be that much cooler, as the actual cold front is still a bit behind. Any
showers could briefly bring stronger winds due to the evaporational cooling of
rain in the dry low-level air creating a downdraft that becomes a gust front when
it reaches the surface, in addition to pulling down stronger winds from above.
