Thickening clouds
prevented much radiational cooling last night, with a low of 45F, though it
will go lower than that tonight. Rain finally moved in this morning, though it
is not much so far, but it is getting steadier and a bit heavier now. The high
was 49F at the beginning, with rain and thick clouds preventing any real warmup
this afternoon. At least intermittent rain is expected through tonight,
possibly mixing with snow tonight as colder air moves in and with the loss of
any slight daytime heating.
Steady
precipitation will end by tomorrow morning, with clearing skies leading to a
daytime warmup likely above model guidance. The daytime heating will lead to
instability given the cold air aloft, which could trigger some convective
showers. Any convective showers will produce brief stronger winds via the gust
front with precipitation creating cold pools especially with the cold air
aloft. There will also likely be at least slightly stronger westerly winds in
the evening due to another low-pressure system approaching Washington, and the
wind will be enhanced by the sea breeze or any convective showers. The low will
likely occur near the end (Friday 06z) with only partly cloudy skies, light
wind, and a rather cold air mass for March.
