Light
winds, clear skies, and dry air led to a quick cooldown to 30F last night,
though still not as low as some models showed, perhaps due to some residual southeasterly
wind. Full sunshine led to a daytime high of 59F, 3F above USL. Northwesterly
winds have picked up to a maximum of 16-17 kt. Winds will calm down tonight,
and with clear skies and very dry air again (humidity dropped to 13% this
afternoon!), rapid radiational cooling will occur again. The winds might be
even calmer than last night, allowing for a similar low temperature despite the
warmer high today. Winds will be weaker but still noticeable, changing to
southwesterly advecting slightly warmer air, allowing it to be yet another 2-4F
warmer than today.
