Southerly
winds ramped up last night, with a max of 28-30 kt, leading to it being 50F at
the start (Wednesday 06z) before slowly cooling off. Two quick rain and hail
showers dropped a total of 0.07” of rain, with it dropping to 37F briefly this
morning. Winds turned to westerly behind the morning showers, with them not
being as strong as the overnight southerly winds so far. Surprisingly, despite
the clearing skies this afternoon, it didn’t get above 50F. Winds will
gradually lighten just enough for some radiational cooling late in the night,
with a sudden drop possible, but increasing clouds just around then will mitigate
the radiational cooling. With clouds mostly clearing again tomorrow, it will
quickly warm up with some lingering westerly winds aloft mixing down to the
surface, but they won’t be as strong as today. Actually, the strongest winds
will be at the end as southwesterly flow strengthens again with another disturbance
approaching.
