Light winds, clear skies, and dry air led to a quick cooldown to 25F last night. Full sunshine led to a daytime high of at least 53F, 2F above USL, which hasn’t happened before since we started KABQ. A bit surprisingly, there was already 9 kt of wind last night with a bit of northerly winds channeled down the Rio Grande Valley, but it’s unlikely to get any stronger than that for the rest of the day. Light southerly winds tonight will likely not be strong enough to really inhibit radiational cooling, though gradual warm advection will led to a milder night and a warmer day tomorrow (perhaps 3-5F warmer for both high and low), with clear skies. Winds will be stronger tomorrow and switch to the northwest, as strong sunshine mixes down some stronger winds from aloft, with the USL likely being a little too low like last week, though the wind shouldn’t be crazy strong either with no mesoscale features to bring sudden bursts of wind.
