Surprisingly,
winds never really dropped off last night, and clouds also increased late in
the night, limiting radiational cooling to a low of 35F. Clouds have since mostly
cleared out, but later clearing than expected meant it only warmed up to 48F.
There hasn’t been that much wind yet, but the southwesterly wind is expected to
quickly strengthen tonight before the end of the day 3 period and continue into
early on day 4 (which is when the maximum day 4 wind will also occur). The winds
will die down with clouds clearing out by late in the night tonight, allowing for
last minute good radiational cooling and temperatures possibly dropping a bit below model guidance. Sunny skies initially tomorrow will lead
to a decent warmup initially, but mid-level clouds in the afternoon will stop
the warmup a bit early and perhaps prevent a super-adiabatic surface layer like
the HRRR shows. This will lead to a high that is a little cooler than today
given the slightly cooler air mass aloft.
