Day 13 of 2021-22 Individual Tournament City: Wichita Falls, TX (KSPS)

Day 12 recap:

As expected, strong southerly winds prevented strong radiational cooling, despite clear skies, with a low of 68F. Although low-mid level clouds moved in just in time for sunrise, like the previous day, they mostly cleared out by early afternoon, unlike the previous day. However, after a brief boost in temperatures, it strangely struggled to warm up much afterwards despite decent sunshine. It could be due to the persistent south-southeasterly winds east of the dry line advecting more moist and slightly cooler air, more so than many models, especially the global ones, showed. There were also more high clouds than expected, especially to the west. It only reached 86F while temperatures soared to the lower 90s not far to the west where winds were south-southwesterly and dew points were lower. Not surprisingly, thunderstorms initiated along the dry line in the evening but stayed just north of Wichita Falls.

Day 13:

Monday and Tuesday constitute the Round of 4. A cool high pressure dominates tonight into tomorrow, with clear skies and dry air. Winds will be rather light out of the northeast tonight, leading to good radiational cooling with rapid warming during the day tomorrow with full sunshine with continued light easterly winds.
