Despite clear skies tonight,
strong southerly winds and weak warm advection will prevent much radiational
cooling. Winds will weaken during the day tomorrow (except an initial boost of winds
in the morning due to the sunshine mixing down strong winds from aloft) as a
weak cold front approaches. It will initially still be sunny tomorrow through at
least early afternoon. As the weak cold front approaches, winds will shift to
southwesterly, allowing for more of a downslope component to the wind, leading
to hotter temperatures, perhaps in the hottest zone sandwiched between
non-downsloped areas to the south and cooler areas to the north behind the cold
front. How hot it gets depends on how soon the afternoon clouds come and how
thick they are. Most likely, the clouds will be scattered to broken and only lower
the high by 1-2F, if even that. With the dry air in place and the front weakening
and becoming more diffuse, no rain is expected to accompany the frontal passage
in the evening. Light northeasterly winds will follow behind the front.
