Day 3 of Raleigh-Durham, NC (KRDU)

It dropped to a low of 50F last night, with calmer wind and more radiational cooling then expected. Apparently, the slight uptick in winds as they shift to northerly or northeasterly briefly didn’t occur until after sunrise, though eventually there was a maximum wind of 10 kt, and with the full sunshine, it warmed up to a high of 79F. It seems like the cool low-level air didn't really come in. Southwesterly winds will strengthen a bit again tonight, leading to less radiational cooling despite mostly clear skies. The resumption of downsloping west-southwesterly winds, very warm air mass, and mostly sunny skies again tomorrow (with scattered afternoon mid-level clouds) will lead to hotter temperatures than today, perhaps near the daily record high. Winds will also be stronger than today and probably even day 1.
