Surprisingly, it only
cooled down to a low of 37F, despite clear skies, perhaps due to still a bit too
much southerly wind. It warmed up rapidly after sunrise with a high of 66F so
far, above model guidance, though it could still rise a bit more. Total lack of
clouds, very dry air, and weak warm advection has led to a perfect and large
diurnal temperature cycle. Maximum wind of 16-17 kt so far, slightly below USL.
Slightly stronger southerly winds will prevent ideal radiational cooling tonight,
but the dry air will still allow for decent cooling. Tomorrow’s high will be
yet warmer than today’s with continued southerly winds and weak warm advection.
Day 4 will also be cloudless at least through tomorrow evening! With very
similar conditions, a forecast adjusting for model bias from yesterday’s forecast
should do quite well.
