Last two days of Des Moines
are looking much drier than they did earlier, with the storm expected earlier
splitting in two, with one piece going to the north and one piece going to the
south. However, it will not really be quiet either, with the northern piece
bringing a cold front late tomorrow, disrupting the daytime heating a bit but
it will still get warm before that with some sunshine and southerly flow through
early afternoon. The front will also bring much stronger northwesterly winds
and cold advection, possibly leading to a low at the end (Saturday 06z), though
mostly cloudy skies and wind will prevent true radiational cooling, unlike the
clearer skies and lighter winds leading to better radiational cooling but with
a warmer air mass tonight. There could still be a few showers along the front,
but rainfall will likely be no more than a tenth of an inch due to the dry low-level
air, and it is quite possible that there ends up
being no measurable rain at all.
