Surprisingly
dropped down to 42F last night, cooler than the previous night despite
following a much warmer afternoon. The temperature also bounced around
more than usual last night -- maybe the subtle shift from westerly to
southerly wind led to more of a cool down. It warmed up rapidly to 71F
with full sunshine by 18z before the lake breeze cooled things off and
strengthened the winds to a likely maximum of 12 kt.
Tonight,
south-southwesterly winds will really be a little too strong for ideal
radiational cooling. There will be some high clouds later in the night,
but they will not be thin enough to affect the low more than 1-1.5F or
so. Whatever clouds will go away by later tomorrow morning, with a few
more thin, nearly inconsequential cirrus in the afternoon. The stronger
winds may also stave off the lake breeze tomorrow but I suspect it will
still eventually come late in the afternoon, but perhaps not until the
temperature would have peaked anyway. (Note how the models do not show
the wind turning to the southeast as much tomorrow).
