An extremely cold
air mass is already in place over Aberdeen, with it being -8F despite sunshine,
as the snow cover is reflecting the sun’s energy into outer space. In the
Plains, snow cover is especially effective in cooling daytime temperatures
since there are fewer darker trees around, and the snow covering the flat
grasslands and farms makes the surface especially white. The air mass will
still get a bit colder tonight as light northerly winds continue, but skies
will be clear, and the winds will likely be just light enough for good
radiational cooling, especially late in the night, with temperatures plummeting
likely below most model guidance! (KABR cools down rapidly in these
conditions). Sunshine will lead to a quick warmup tomorrow though mitigated by
the snow cover.
do we think that the USL just completely died? "Hacking" the URL doesn't even work anymore
ReplyDeleteIt might have just not run for the first day. That has happened before. Hacking the URL works now.
DeleteYeah I see that now, it must've not run, even on the WXC results page, it just uses climo data for the usl output
