We
are back at it today after a 6 ½ week break. After last week’s cold and snow in
Baltimore, it will turn much milder with rain this week. For tonight though,
the remnant of the cold air mass is still around. With mostly clear skies until
late in the night, light winds, and still a little snow on the ground, good
radiational cooling is expected across the region, with KBWI being especially
cold (i.e. likely several degrees F below most model guidance, based on the
station history). Warm air aloft will be in by tomorrow, and surface
temperatures will warm considerably tomorrow, but the warmup will be mitigated
by increasing clouds and weak winds, and there might still be a little snow
left on the ground, so the typical cold bias of models might not really apply
tomorrow. Winds will be exceptionally light tomorrow, with the maximum wind
being about the lowest it can get.
