Dropped to 63F last night with a bit of clearing before it got really cloudy. Although there were some showers and thunderstorms this morning, they mostly underperformed (0.19” so far) with most of the heavy rain going off to the north into Wisconsin or east over the Lake Michigan shoreline. Skies cleared out a bit and it recorded 68F earlier but dropped a bit since then, cooler than the past few days. It’s also mysteriously cooler than all other reporting stations around there and appears erroneous. Why do stations keep breaking down when WxChallenge forecasts for them? My estimate for actual high is 73F so far, and it could still 1F or so higher. Easterly winds off Lake Michigan got going early this afternoon (max of 14 kt so far) and will prevent it from warming up much more. Another round of showers will likely move in from the southwest this evening.
The weak upper-level low slowly slides off to the southeast and will continue to provide showers and possibly a thunderstorm tonight into tomorrow. Winds shift slightly to easterly or east-northeasterly, providing a more direct flow off Lake Michigan. A bit of clearing in the middle of the night could allow for a bit of radiational cooling, but during the day tomorrow will be even cloudier tomorrow than today, leading to high temperatures at least a few degrees cooler. The cooler temperatures will reduce instability, leading to weaker showers and thunderstorms and likely less rain.
